Hello! I am a 2nd-year PhD student at MIT LIDS working with Pablo Parrilo and Gabriele Farina. I am interested in problems at the intersection of generative artificial intelegence, stochastic differential equations, and deep learning, particularly those related to diffusion models and high performance computing.
I’m passionate about working on questions whose solutions expand humanities collective ability. Outside of my theorhetical work, I’m also passionate about public health; in the past I’ve built Triple, an analytics platform designed to improve preventative health measuers, and am currently buidling Triple II to use AI to tailor traditional health isurance to the gig economy. I’ve also built AI chatbots in the past, such as LegalChat, which we designed to help bridge the legal information asymmetry in legal contracts.
I am also very involved with teaching, both around MIT and otherwise. In the past, I’ve helped design and teach a 6.S095, a student-run lecture series at MIT covering advanced problem solving techniques in probability, random variables, and stochastic processes. I also frequently publish notes on a variety of topics, which you can find HERE.
Previously, I completed my undergratuate in Mathematics also at MIT where I worked with Professor Pablo Parrilo on optimization solutions to the Blotto Game. During my undergraduate, I was a member of the MIT varisty sailing team and spent time as a quantitative researcher at Point72 and CitiBank.
If I’m not writing math or code, you can probably find me painting, gardening with family, or skiing with friends. Feel free to reach out at hoffmanp@mit.edu
